What does Merdeka mean to you?

To most people it just means the country is independent.

Much more so.

It means my identity. A place which I call home. A place where I can express my opinion without their fear of oppression. A place where I can mix around with my friends from all races.
A place where there is no discrimination. A country where men and women are treated equally. A place where I am free to move around without restrictions.

Yes, my country turns 50 tomorrow.
